NO-A nitric oxide delivery system

The NO-A is a therapy device for the application of nitric oxide (NO) therapy gas in the ventilation flow of an intensive care patient in connection with different ventilators.

The inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) therapy shall reduce the clinical necessity of a left-to-right shunt and contribute to cardiac relief. In order to improve the oxygenation of ventilated patients nitric oxide (NO) is added to the respiratory gas.

It is applied for the treatment of newborns, children and adults with pulmonary hypertension, oxygen deficiency, neonatal pulmonary failure, persistent pulmonary hypertension of neonates, pulmonary fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Furthermore the device is used in cardiac surgery (cardiac valve diseases and cardiac transplantation) to treat an increased pulmonary pressure, as inhaled NO has a dilating effect on the blood vessels in the lung and therefore significantly improves the haemodynamics of the patient. maniNO – blender for nitric oxide and oxygen
The maniNO blender for patient supply with a gas blend of oxygen (O2) and nitric oxide (NO) stands out due to easy usability and high NO-precision. It is suited for application in the manual ventilation and can thereby be used in transport as well as in MRI environment.

The dosing range of maniNO can be adjusted from 0-40 ppm with an also steplessly adjustable total flow of 0-15 l/min.

With a special transport bracket the maniNO meets the requirements for DIN EN 1789 concerning the transport in road ambulances.

CALIBSO ViPlus Ventilatortester

With its BiFlow-Sensors the CALIBSO ViPlus Ventilatortester offers even more prospects than its successful predecessor model. EKU herewith has realised the requests and suggestions by biomedical engineers who have satisfactorily been working with the ViP Ventilatortester for more than one decade and has made adjustments to their job requirements. In combination with the touchpad the handling becomes easier and more intuitive.

The BiFlow-Sensors with integrated measuring of humidity and ventilation pressure offer highest flexibility for bidirectional flow measurement by being connected to the CALIBSO ViPlus individually. Furthermore the BiFlow-Sensors can be sent separately for the annual calibration, independently from the basic unit CALIBSO ViPlus.

ViP Ventilatortester
The ViP Ventilatortester is a mobile microprocessor controlled measurement meter for flow, volume, pressure and oxygen. Developed for medical and laboratory applications and especially used to test ventilators its main advantages are its high measuring precision and simplicity of use. Its wide spectrum of use lets this meter stand as an ideal unit for surveying and testing tasks.

The measured values can be displayed, saved and printed by a PC programme (communication via RS232). The PC-software (freeware) enables an easy remote control and configuration of the ViP by PC or laptop. Pressure and flow can be displayed graphically, saved and printed. Long-term measuring and storage of the measured data provide a fault analysis without great expenditure.

The field medical measuring technology by EKU Elektronik is specialised in taking measuring values for respiration parameters such as volume, flow, pressure and oxygen. We offer the corresponding calibration service for the following measuring devices developed by EKU: CALIBSO ViPlus Ventilatortester, ViP Ventilatortester, ViPex (tension), V-Meter, P-Meter and O2-Meter.

Following the current DAkkS Directives (EN ISO 17025), calibration equipment has been developed by EKU Elektronik in order to be able to issue calibration certificates. Our quality system according to ISO 13485 makes great demands on the development and the process check of assigned inspection devices.

Company details
EKU Elektronik GmbH from the Hunsrück area in Leiningen, Germany is a medium-sized company with a qualified team of currently 27 employees. The company name EKU stands for the three founders of the company Mr. Erdmann, Mr. Karacsony and Mr. Ulrichskötter. Since its establishment in the year 1992 EKU has specialised in development and production of electronic products in the field of ventilation, anaesthesia, gas therapy and medical measuring technology. It also produces for other medical companies as well as for the pharmaceutical industry in the so-called OEM-business, according to EKU’s slogan “from the idea to the finished product”.

Since 1998 the EKU-Products are marketed through local distributors to more than 40 countries world-wide. Development and production take place in the factory in Leiningen, Germany. This inhouse know-how is the key for successful existence in national and international markets for the dedicated EKU-Team. The challenge in continuous development of new electronic medical products has already been appreciated by winning various innovation awards in the German state Rheinland-Pfalz.
