GENOMICA was founded in 1990 with the aim of offering a scientific answer to a social requirement: to establish a reliable method for identifying people through DNA testing. In just three years, the company completed the design and assembly of the DNA labs of the Guardia Civil and the Spanish Scientific Police. Later, the company, did the same job in different countries of Latin America and Africa, while offering services of kinship analysis and genetic identification. GENOMICA is currently the leader in forensic identification in Spain and the first company accredited by the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC) according to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17.025 for this type of test.
Thanks to the experience of GENOMICA in DNA technology, the company moved a step forward to entering the world of molecular diagnostics. In the mid-nineties the first marketed products focused on infectious disease diagnosis were launched. In 2003 development of CLART® started, a technology based on low-density microarrays, which provided solutions in the diagnosis of infectious diseases. With this reliable, fast and robust technique, we believe to have addressed the basic needs of health professionals in the clinical diagnosis field. Currently, CLART® is being applied not only to the microbiological diagnostics, but also to personalized medicine and oncology.
In 2006, GENOMICA started an internationalization process that has led the company to be present in 40 countries worldwide.
Thanks to all this, GENOMICA is leading the molecular diagnostic market in Spain and considered to be a benchmark internationally.
