THE NEWSTER SWT CYCLE PROCESS

The automatic cycle carries out the following stages :

Fluidification of liquids
Solid-liquid separation
Disinfection of infected liquids and final drainage to sewer

Fluidification of liquids
Dissipation and grinding operations of the solids in treatment take place in the grinding tank (3) where the grinders (4) and the transfer pumps (5) for the water containing the grinded solids are installed.
This phase of the grinding disintegrates and disperses the organic matter and reduces the size of solid and fiber materials after which the waste water is pumped to the separator (6). Heavier materials that eventually are present ( stones, pieces of iron, glass, etc) are removed by the centrifuge effect of the rotating head of the grinder and deposited in an area where it can not damage the grinder.
The computer, via a system of level probes, commands the grinders and pumps. The tank has a safety overflow system that drains the water into the disinfection tank and then directly into the sewer.

Solid-liquid separation
During this phase the liquid passes through mechanical filtration twice while solids remain compacted

The first stage of the treatment is formed by a stainless steel sheet with 8mm diameter holes. The perforated sheet is continuously cleaned by four nylon brushes. During this stage solids are pressed and sent to the second stage.
Even in the second stage the grill is a stainless steel sheet with 8mm diameter holes.

The solids arriving from the first stage are pressed against the perforated sheet by four rotating rollers, mounted on special elements that allow the regulation of the force of the pressure. That way the solid is partly dewatered first and then loaded into the container (7) with the use of two nylon brushes that brush the perforated sheet. The liquid is collected in the separator’s lower tank and from there transferred to the disinfection tank (9) by means of the transfer pumps with open impeller for wastewater (8) Where possible the transfer is made by drop.
The solids separated are taken from the separator and piled into the container (7). They can be treated in the Newster® NW solid waste sterilization machines.

Disinfection of infected liquids and final drainage to sewer
The disinfection tank (9) is designed to obtain the right degree of mixing between the wastewater and the disinfectants.
The dosage of the chemical additives is controlled by chemical and physical parameters linked to the computer that controls the function of the entire system.
The peracetic acid (10), used mainly as a disinfectant, creates an acid environment in the disinfection tank. To maintain a pH value of about 7 a basic product is used, usually sodium Hydroxide (11).
The disinfection tank is designed in order to guaranty a contact time of 30 minutes between the disinfectant agents and the wastewater ( with peracetic acid a minimum contact of 20 minutes guarantees the disinfection of the wastewater). When the time is up the wastewater is discharged into the sewer (12).

Technical Specifications
The system is designed with two redundant work lines.
The technical specifications are intended for a single line.

PURA COMPACT
NEWSTER® PURA CO3MPACT technology allows to treat laboratory wastewater in order to permit the in-troduction of the relative liquid component into the public sewer, with an organic and inorganic pollutants removal greater than 90% and a complete removal of biologic hazards.

Thanks to its small size, automatic operations, and the need of minimal maintenance, NEWSTER® PURA CO3MPACT is ideal to be installed inside hospitals and medical laboratories.

The system consists of the following main units:

“Pre-treatment module” equipped with an ozone generator;
“Treatment module”;
Electrical board.

All units are mobile thanks to the wheels placed under each unit.
Newster® PURA CO3MPACT is an on-site machine for the treatment of medical laboratory fluid waste with the aim to remove the biologic hazards (sterilization) and reduce the chemical concentrations of the pollu-tants from the wastewater before discharging into the sewage system.

Regarding the sterilization of microbial bacteria, Newster® PURA CO3MPACT can meet STAATT Level IV of microbial inactivation.

The plant is based upon an innovative peroxone (a combination of ozone and hydrogen peroxide) pre-treatment followed by a mineral activated carbon treatment. It can treat 20 liters of waste liquid per cycle, for a maximum of 150 liters per day.

The automatic cycle consists of five stages, described below:
PRE-TREATMENT STAGE
Stage 1 – FLUID WASTE COLLECTING: at first the fluid wastes are collected into four different tanks, accord-ing to the automatic laboratory analyzer they come from; three of them have a capacity of 50 liters each, while the fourth one has a maximum capacity of 14 liters.
Stage 2 – OZONE/PEROXONE PRE-TREATMENT: a set mix of the fluids coming from the first step is sent to a two hour ozone pre-treatment (first phase) in order to reach the complete disinfection of the water; then the waste fluid is sent to the second phase of the pre- treatment, consisting of a one hour ozone and hydrogen peroxide treatment for the oxidation of pollutants before the main reaction (following stages);
TREATMENT STAGE
Stage 3 – PAC TREATMENT: the disinfected wastewater is then treated for two hours with powdered acti-vated carbon and finally filtrated for the removal of oxidized pollutants;
SLOW FILTRATION STAGE
Stage 4 – GAC TREATMENT: after the powdered carbon treatment, the fluid is sent to a one-hour treat-ment with granulated activated carbon and a final filtration for the final polishing;
Stage 5 – ION EXCHANGE RESIN: in order to reduce the total dissolved salt the water is treated with a fil-tration mix of cation and anionic resins.
At the end of the treatment, the retroactive system checks if the treated water is ready to be discharged into the sewage system. If the values are not correct, the waste fluid is loaded again at the beginning of the treatment.
The entire cycle takes approximately 3 hours.

About Us

Company details
Newster Group was established in 1996 with a plan for a better world focusing on contributing to society by offering environmentally compatible equipment designed to improve the quality of life.
Newster Group, including Newster System s.r.l. (Italy), is one of the European leaders in manufacturing and marketing certified patented systems for the sterilization of infectious solid medical waste, treatment and disinfection of healthcare facilities’ wastewater and medical laboratory fluid waste, under the Newster® trademark.
Production is based on the maximum flexibility by the co-operation of specialized technicians and electronic experts, directly in the Newster factory in Cerasolo di Coriano (RN) or in the workshops of highly oriented professional companies. The whole is completed by technicians who follow-up to service and after sales assistance, operating in different areas, in Italy and abroad.
The flexible organizational structure of the group is it’s strength and allows to meet special production requests. Newster Group has distributors that market and service products in many countries world-wide:
Albania, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Nepal, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Republic of San Marino, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uruguay, Venezuela, UAE

One of the main goals is to serve customers in an efficient and professional manner. Technicians are trained directly by Newster, in order to provide better quality service directly on site and satisfy customers’ various needs. Technicians are given extensive “hands-on training” directly at the factory or at the distributors’ premises, and are able to supply timely and accurate diagnoses and repairs. This is all made less difficult because Newster machines are based on easy-to-use technology. Thus, highly skilled personnel is not required for standard maintenance.
Newster equipment includes three lines of hospital-grade products and involve various fields, such as:

• Sterilization of potentially infectious healthcare waste
• Treatment and sterilization of potentially infectious sewage water
• Treatment of lab fluid waste

Health care waste sterilization systems “Newster®NW5” “Newster®NW15” and “Newster®NW50” are for the treatment and sterilization of potentially infectious healthcare waste (including plastic, sharps and liquids). Newster® technology is based on frictional heating treatment , deriving from the work of thermal resistances and from impact, friction and grinding of the particles. During the treatment cycle, the temperature inside the cell rises; it is controlled and kept to the needed level for the necessary time-lapse required for the complete sterilization of the waste.
Newster’s sterilization system is designed to meet European Directives requirements and is certified by official government authorities, including the countries where it is distributed and installed. Newster sterilizers are ideal for on-site treatment in small/medium size public and/or private hospital facilities, institutes for zooprophylaxis and clinical diagnostics but are also used in waste disposal centres. Newster sterilizers are also an excellent resource for the reduction of waste transport costs.
The systems are complete of IWC – Integrated Waste Collector – for the direct collection of the treated material inside an appropriate container. A system for the cleaning and disinfection of hospital waste containers “Newster®Sterilbox” is available as an accessory to integrate Newster sterilizers.

The Water treatment plant “Newster®SWT – “Safe Water Treatment”– System for the disinfection of hospital waste water has been specifically designed for mechanical pre-treatment and final treatment of waste water deriving from infectious-disease hospital wards. The system is based on an innovative process that uses a special macerator to dispel all organic material and eventually grinds all other material in the waste water. The Newster®SWT system is designed for on-site installation in public and private hospital facilities.

NEWSTER® PURA CO3MPACT technology allows to treat laboratory wastewater in order to permit the in-troduction of the relative liquid component into the public sewer, with an organic and inorganic pollutants removal greater than 90% and a complete removal of biologic hazards. It is especially designed for biomedical analysis laboratories liquid waste produced by automatic analyzers for bacteriology, serology, hematology, coagulation, toxicology, immunology, biochemistry among others.Thanks to its small size, automatic operations, and the need of minimal maintenance, NEWSTER® PURA CO3MPACT is ideal to be installed inside hospitals and medical laboratories
